Stiletto Heel Protectors
We found this nifty product perfect for women attending outdoor events. These flexible clear plastic heel stoppers help prevent heels from sinking into grass at weddings, barbeques, garden parties, and other outdoor
events. They simply slip onto the tip of your heels. The tubing protects the heel from grass or mud stains. They fit into your handbag and are reusable too! No matter how much you spend on shoes, nobody wants to have that sinking feeling on a special day! There are several types of this product available online.
Who Knew?
The Creation of Cellophane
In 1900, Swiss chemist Jacques Brandenberger, was inspired to create fabric that would repel liquids after seeing wine spilled on a restaurant tablecloth. His experiments failed either making the fabric too stiff or not repelling at all. Seeking inspiration from nature he noticed that the leaves of plants repelled water so his last experiment involved the use of cellulose. This experiment also failed but he noticed that the cellulose separated easily from the fabric in a clear sheet. He thought that this by-product might have some use. It was patented in 1912 under the name Cellophane - from the words cellulose and diaphane ("transparent"). Whitman's candy was the largest user of the product until DuPont bought the rights to the product in 1927.
