From Sunday's Readings
Then the son said to him
"Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you
I am no longer worthy to be called your son."
But the father said to his slaves,
"Quickly, bring out a robe -- the best one,
and put it on him, put a ring on his finger,
and sandals on his feet.
And get the fatted calf and kill it,
And let us celebrate.
For this son of mine was dead and is alive again.
He was lost and is found."
ECR Concert Series Extra: Ramblers A cappella Men's Choir

Founded in 1998, the University of Rochester Midnight Ramblers have been rocking their way through the world of collegiate a cappella ever since. The Ramblers have performed all over the country, recently making their way to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Nashville. They've just released their 10th full-length studio album, Deja Blue. CALLING ALL YOUNG SINGERS!

The Lenten Children's Choir will not sing in church this week, since only a few were able to attend practice last week.  However, we still will have practice immediately after church this Sunday, and invite singers to grab a snack and come to the choir room!  We plan to sing in church again on March 6.
Come Sing with The Choir for
Palm Sunday and Easter

In these busy times, not everyone is able to participate in choir every Sunday - and we totally understand!  However, if you'd like a great short-term opportunity, we'd love to have your help!  We're starting work on a few big (but not very difficult) selections for Palm Sunday (March 20) and Easter (March 27) at our Wednesday evening rehearsals.   Come get in on the fun!  For more information, please contact Sara Burden-McClure at  sarabmcc@austin.rr.com

How To Speak Episcopalian

The Good Word this week is

The Lessons

The Lessons are the Biblical texts that are read by a lector, or lay reader, at the Eucharist. The role of the lector is among the oldest of the liturgical lay ministries. The Eucharist calls for a psalm and three lessons: an Old Testament reading, an epistle, and a gospel. (During Eastertide readings from the Acts of the Apostles may replace Old Testament readings.)  In the absence of a deacon, the lector may also read the Prayers of the People. A deacon or priest reads the gospel lesson.

Readings are organized in three year cycles in a table called the lectionary. Over the three year period a substantial amount of the Old Testament and almost all of the New Testament will be read.

We are always looking for new ways to serve, and new lectors. If you think that this very spiritually rewarding ministry might be for you, please contact Fr. Billy and request more information.

Austin Girls' Choir Madrigal Dinner

Table service with a song - How can anyone resist?

Hear ye, hear ye!  Austin Girls' Choir's annual  Madrigal Dinner will be held  Saturday, March 5  from 6-8 p.m. at the Parish Hall of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection (2008 Justin Lane, Austin 78757)!

The fun and family-friendly musical theater production includes an era-appropriate supper, lots of madrigal songs, and a clever play!  In this year's story, Duke Gavin comes home from the royal court with a surprise for his daughters - and discovers that the surprise is on him!  Share in his dilemma as enlightened noble ladies exercise logic and assert their rights!
Menu:  Roasted Chicken and Spring Potatoes, Haricots Verts, Rustic Breads, and . . . totally illogical dessert treats!  Guests may imbibe iced tea or lemonade.

You are welcome to dress in Elizabethan attire if you wish, or just come Austin casual.  Seating with fanfares and heraldic presentation occurs 6-6:30p.m. during the pre-show concert.  Play begins at 6:30 p.m., with dinner served during the event.

Please purchase tickets in advance at www.girlschoir.com or via   512-453-0884 $26 Nobles' Circle (all ages), $16 Gallery (all ages).  You may also purchase directly from any Austin Girls' Choir chorister or board member at a small discount.  Space for walk-ins is usually very limited, so to ensure your place, please buy tickets by 11 p.m. March 2, 2016.

Emily Harrington Wins In Science Fair

Ann Harrington has advised us that her grandaughter, Emily Harrington, age 9, has won the second place ribbon in the Austin Regional Science Fair on February 20th.
Emily won for her very interesting study of sprouting seeds in various liquids.

Emily's father grew up here at ECR, and even attended the school that was here in our school buildings. They are part of our church family along with her parents and younger brother, Clayton and his cowboy boots.

Wednesday Bible Study Continues
