newsUSG Students Receive White Coats
New Bachelor of Science in Nursing students at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) received their white coats at a ceremony held February 17 at USG. The purpose of the White Coat program is to instill a commitment to providing compassionate care among future health professionals entering nursing schools. BSN and Clinical Nurse Leader students at UMSON's Baltimore location received their white coats at a February 8 ceremony .
Dean Kirschling Meets Conway Scholars at Special Events
Dean Jane Kirschling and Laurette Hankins, associate dean for development and alumni relations, met with the first cohort of Conway Scholars at events held recently at USG and in Baltimore. A luncheon for USG scholars was held February 18, and a brunch for Baltimore scholars was held February 19. Students had the opportunity to spend time with Dean Kirschling, tell their stories, and ask questions about the scholarship. Click here for information about Conway Scholarships.

Darlene Curley, MS '82, BSN '80, RN, FAAN , executive director of the Jonas Center and the Jonas Center for Nursing and Veterans Healthcare, will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the program's commitment to graduate nursing on March 18. Over the last 10 years, the Jonas Center has become a national organization in partnership with leading schools of nursing in all 50 states, with 1,000 Jonas Scholars supported by the Center's initiatives.  Click here to learn more.

Docents Needed for Living History Museum
The UMSON Living History Museum is seeking alumni volunteers to serve as docents. The museum is open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday during the academic semesters. Docents are also needed for occasional special events, such school tours and open houses for new and prospective students. Scheduling is flexible. The UMSON Alumni Association is working with Harris Connect on a new version of Alumni Today, previously updated in 2011. The publication contains comprehensive biographical listings with contact, career, and family information of our graduates. To ensure that our data is as current as possible, Harris Connect will contact alumni to verify that the information we will print is accurate and complete. Please help us make this publication full of the latest information about you and your fellow alumni.
Career Services for UMSON Alumni
UMSON students and alumni can access professional career services through the Student Success Center. Services include a job board, resume and cover letter writing workshops, interviewing skills workshops, mock interviews, and online resources. There is also an annual career fair to help job seekers. Click here for more information.

Members of the Council of University Faculty Senate (CUFS), including Karen Clark, PhD, RN, CCRN, assistant professor, attended Advocacy Day in Annapolis on February 11. The legislative sub-committee of CUFS and CUFS members met with Maryland senators and delegates.
