A Quarterly Scholarship and Research eNewsletter

Mission and Vision of the SRC Committee iStockPhotowWatermark
By Peter Serdyukov, Ph D and Interim Dean, Ken Fawson

The Scholarship and Research Committee was convened as a standing committee of the School of Education by the Interim Dean to promote a culture of scholarship and research within the School. The Committee's quest is to create an environment in which faculty can share their scholarship, and expand and enhance their research. Communicating about faculty scholarship and encouraging collaboration reflects four of the five elements of the School's Conceptual Framework, STARS. It provides evidence of the practice of Scholarship, Teamwork with colleagues and other professionals, Active reflection on our practice, and modeling Standards of exemplary practice.

Our pilot Newsletter was sent in December and the block on the server has now been removed. Here is what some of you may have received in December.

Each quarter, the SRC will be asking faculty to share, contribute, collaborate, and invest in developing our Scholarship and Research learning community.

Innovative Educational Leadership through the Cycle of Change

"Innovative Educational Leadership Through the Cycle of Change" is a textbook for leaders and future leaders written by experienced professionals. The book is written and edited by Drs. Dan Cunniff, Donna Elder, and Wayne Padover from the School of Education. The work is a collection of articles from experienced professionals in the field of educational administration centering around the Interstate School Licensure Consortium (ISLIC) Standards for School Leaders. The book has four chapters and will fit well into our four unit e-college courses. The chapters include innovation, inspiration, interaction and change, and can be used as a primary or secondary text in undergraduate or graduate courses in leadership, organizational development, sociology, public and educational administration. The book is also useful for practicing administrators looking for more detailed, research-based solutions to difficult questions from the points-of view of experienced practitioners.
