THEME: Practically Polished Tricks, Part 2
Last month, quite a few members presented their first performance of a new or challenging magic trick to be critiqued. This upcoming month, the same tricks will be performed, now polished and improved. After each performance, the floor will be opened for discussion so that we might further perfect our craft. If you were unable to participate last month, feel free to join in this month with a trick that has challenged you!

FEBRUARY 2016 RING REPORT
Ring 199's Friday magic luncheon meetings are facilitated by Danny Reeves.  The February magic luncheon sessions were very entertaining to say the least.

Wayne Anderson's handling of a Mark Mason effect was superb.  In this routine, Anderson had a spectator name a card and a number.  With "seemingly" no sleight of hand, Anderson counted down to the number and revealed the chosen card.  Anderson also performed Troy Hoosier's "Charming Chinese Challenge" routine wherein a ribbon appeared to slip through the holes in the three Chinese coins manipulated by Anderson.

Aaron Thomas performed Bro. John Hammond's "Gemini Twins".  In this storytelling presentation, cards were moved about as the storyline's plot heightened.  All cards changed at the end of the routine for a surprise finish.

Xan Innes did a very impressive "invisible palm" presentation then followed up by performing an effect where two Kings found a selected card.

Kevin Reylek showed the impromptu trick he does when someone asks him to do a "cool magic trick".  Reylek's handling of the venerable Scotch and Soda set was very magical. Steven Perry produced three coins out of thin air then caused them to vanish one at a time with the ruse of showing the difference between "reality and illusion".

Ring 199's February session took the term "sessioning" to a new level.  Members were encouraged to bring out effects that they had been working on that they wanted critiqued.  Even the routines that had not been perfected yet were welcomed.  The idea was that members could improve their routines if the routines were subjected to analysis.

Fred Rosenbaum demonstrated to the group the changes that he had made in his "Magic Insurance Policy Salesman" routine based on previous feedback from the group.  Due to the previous feedback garnered by Rosenbaum and the meeting's further analysis of his routine, Rosenbaum is well on the way to perfecting his presentation techniques.

Rick Denatale conjured up chuckles from the group with his homespun routine involving his "trained" cards.  Denatale made his cards roll over and do other comical tricks.

"Awesome" Charles Nichols was hilarious when he slaughtered the audience with a barrage of tricks.  Nichols kept the audience entertained while showing his dexterity with his silk, cards, and coin combinations.

Tony Baro demonstrated his magic "chops" with his routine entitled "A Bunch of Random".  In this original routine, Baro incorporated card shuffles, misdirection, and scientific jargon to find an audience member's selected card.

Xan Innes wowed the audience with a rollicking "ambitious card" routine which utilized his coat pocket.

Ten year old Cooper Moseley's magic potential is UNLIMITED!  Cooper's perfect deadpan comedic timing managed to keep the audience in stitches as he flawlessly demonstrated "The Magic Square" with a number randomly selected from an audience member.  At the rate Cooper is going, he will one day be on the "magic radar".

The dynamic duo composed of David Trustman and Sarah Moseley once again proved that mental feats can trump when they are used by the right people.  Trustman wrote out the square root of pi in groups of ten on a blackboard out to 300 digits while Moseley had her back turned.  When a spectator called out the coordinates of one of the groups of ten digits, Moseley homed in on it without turning around!

Upcoming events:  Auction - April 2, 2016.  Family Fling (contests, etc.) - May 7, 2016.

Ring 199 normally meets on the first Saturday of the month.  The exceptions for the remainder of  2016 will be July 9th and September 10th.

HELP!  CARD MAGICIAN NEEDED
The Magic Youth Group is still searching for one or two accomplished card magicians to oversee the intermediate to advanced card magic classes on a consistent monthly basis. These classes have been discontinued due to the lack of a dedicated mentor or mentor team.

This mentor may set his own schedule to meet with the card kids at either The Magic Corner Magic Shop or prior to the monthly Ring meetings at New Horizons Fellowship.

The General and Beginner Magic Classes are still taught by Skip Way on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month, 6:00-8:00 PM at The Magic Corner.

Please contact Skip Way at [email protected] if you are interested in assuming responsibility for the card magic classes.

THE TAX MAGICIAN
Did you know that self-employed Entertainers generally pay too much in taxes? The average entertainer is confused about running a business from home, self-employed and estimated taxes, deductible business expenses, record keeping, and many other tax topics.

Whether you're a full-time or part-time performer; new to the business or a seasoned pro; a professional or amateur entertainer; The Tax Magician has something you can use!  Get my  free reports  to help you save now.

Hi, Everyone,

We had a nice little group this past Friday. In attendance were: Virginia O., Kevin R., Xan I., Rob O., Mike Casey (card magician extraordinaire), Mike & Pattie G. and me. We had some good magical discussions and saw some good magic. There was a lot of magic at the other end of the table from where I was sitting. I couldn't record everything but I know there was a lot of card magic being performed by Kevin, Xan and Mike with a non-card effect performed by Rob. We will meet again at Cary's Crossroads Sweet Tomatoes on Friday afternoon of this week at 1:00.

Hope to see you there,
Danny Reeves
