There is a
mandatory dress rehearsal on Wed., Feb. 24th at 12:35 for all students planning on participating. Talent Show is Feb. 26th at 6pm. Mark your calendars!

Nick's Picks -- A Heights Cares Service Project
Feb. 1-28
Nick's Picks at the Heights will run from Feb 1st to Feb 28th. Classrooms will create pictures of encouragement and write notes to the sick children that will receive the backpacks. Students are encouraged to raise money to fund backpacks supplied by Nick's Picks and our Del Mar Heights PTA will match our students -- backpack for backpack -- double the backpacks! Students can turn money into the office anytime throughout the project.

t's time to start preparing for the 2016 Del Mar Heights Science Fair! Please see the K-5 Science Fair Handbook for important dates and details.
Students in Grade 6 will receive Science Fair information during class.

Cultural Education -- Chamorro Day
February 12th
Our Del Mar Heights PTA and your valuable contributions will bring cultural education and appreciation to our student body with a festive Chamorro Day.
The school library and librarian will feature displays & lessons with examples of:
Ancient Chamorro homes,
Traditional Chamorro fishing and hunting, and t
raditional Chamorro art and crafts.
On February 12, students will see a
presentation of Chamorro music, dance and crafts on Chamorro Day. The day will bring the music, dance and arts of the Chamorros in two morning assemblies and an optional lunchtime program.
This program is being organized in partnership with the Chamorro Optimist Club San Diego that strives to bring out the best in our youth. Presenters include the Island Mist ukulele ensemble, The Foundation for Chamorro Arts, Crafts, Artifacts and Education, and the Uno Hit Chamorro dancers.

Garden Lunch Club Now on Fridays!
Garden Coordinator, Stephanie Murphy, will be supervising our
new Garden Lunch Club every Friday in the Main Garden. Students are welcome to stop by and
plant seeds, hand water, pull weeds, thin beds, harvest, check out bugs, and even help with the strawberry tower! No need to sign up, just show up during lunch recess.
Parents, you're welcome to join us in the garden any Friday. Stephanie works in the garden every Friday from 11:30 to 2:30pm and would love to have support from our families to help the gardens flourish. No gardening experience needed.

Any Del Mar Heights Elementary student will gain FREE admission by filling out
THIS COUPON and bringing it to the game on February 27, 2016. Parents and other family members will be admitted for just $5.00 (normal price is $10.00) when arriving with any student holding the free pass.
There will also be a halftime exhibition featuring athletes from Del Mar Heights Elementary.
