The Largest Training Event in 2016!

Why We Attend the Annual Service Training Institute
By Samurai Appliance Repair Man,  www.MasterSamuraiTech.com

Time management is a common problem for people in service businesses like ours. Everything tends to be emergency driven and we feel pressure from the demands of customers and the other aspects of running a business. The result of constant fire-fighting is burnout. That's why we must MAKE the time for some big-picture work on our businesses and why annual training events, like ASTI, are so beneficial. You're reuniting with old friends, meeting new Brethren in the Craft, and learning tons of cool new stuff, both business and technical. More on this and a cool, new video doodle on parallel circuits in this Journey of Total Appliance Enlightenment...Read More

Tip #64  "Get it in Writing! Sharing Schedules? Tax on Parts? "

By Jennifer Marriott, Mid America Service

GET IT IN WRITING:
One of my #1 rules for authorizations of any kind, and agreements between parties is that all of the details must be in writing so that if anything goes wrong with a billing, repair, or rate-increase, I have something in writing to refer back to.

This is pretty cut and dry and everyone in the office knows this rule. In the past I quickly learned that having something in writing is gold. If a concession is given, or additional labor is promised, permission to replace a particular part has been given, or a rate increase is agreed upon, you must have something in writing to refer back to and present as proof. This policy has never failed me and has saved me time and time again.

New Report Finds Consumers See Promise, but Not Yet Ready for a Smart Home
By Dealerscope Staff, www.dealerscope.com

The "Internet of Things" is fast becoming a reality as more and more products and things contain sensors and/or microprocessors, and are connected to wireless networks. The number of smart home product offerings has grown rapidly in the past few years, and will continue to do so as a diverse set of companies and industries vie for leadership in this space.
