MAYOR PAUL DELIVERS STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS
Transportation was the theme of this year's State of the City address delivered by Mayor Paul at the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce annual breakfast. The mayor shared with the crowd of more than 200 his commitment to extending MARTA, but that in the meantime he emphasized the need to generate resources for a regional road, trail and bike transportation network to help ease the area's mobility challenges. STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS FOR SANDY SPRINGS CIRCLE
The City will host a Public Open House related to streetscape improvements planned for Sandy Springs Circle from Hammond Drive to Mt. Vernon Highway. There will not be a formal presentation, but City representatives will be available with plans and displays to discuss the project and answer your questions. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Activities Center (Hitson Center) at 85 Mount Vernon Highway.

REGISTER FOR SPRING BREAK CAMPS AND PROGRAMS
The Recreation and Parks department has a new online registration website that we hope will make the process easier for you! The new registration date for spring and summer programs is Monday, March 7, 2016. The new web address is: registration.sandyspringsga.gov and you will need to create an account (just below the Sign-in button).

THE CITY'S NEWEST PARK OFFICIALLY OPENS
The ribbon cutting for Lost Corner Preserve will take place on March 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at 7300 Brandon Mill Road. Lost Corner Preserve includes 24 acres of wildlife, horticulture and local history. Since 1821, the property remained under the ownership of just two families, until its transfer to the City in eight years ago with the help of Friends of Lost Corner, a non-profit created to help the City turn Lost Corner from home site to recreation area for residents. The City's Recreation and Parks Department will oversee maintenance and operations. The park will be open daylight to dusk, with special times permitted related to facility / program use. The cottage is open only for reserved use. Those wishing to rent the cottage need to submit that request by filling out the Recreation and Parks Event Questionnaire found on the City's website (www.sandyspringsga.gov - Recreation tab - Park Facility Rentals).

COMMUNITY EASTER EGG HUNT
Mark your calendars and plan to join us for the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 19 at the Hammond Park Turf Field. Registration opens at 10 a.m. and hunt times are 10:30 for ages 1-3, 11 a.m. for ages 4-6 and 11:30 for ages 7-9.
This event is provided by the North Perimeter Optimist Club and the Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Department.

BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWAL TIME!
Are you a business owner in Sandy Springs or want to start a new business? Businesses located in Sandy Springs are required to obtain a Business Occupational Tax Certificate. Often referred to as a Business License, the Certificate is valid for a calendar year and must be renewed annually.
Business licenses expire on December 31 of each calendar year. As a courtesy the City extends/offers a 90-day grace period making the deadline for renewal March 31. Failure to renew prior to
March 31 will result in a one-time 10% penalty.

SAFETY CLASSES
The Sandy Spring Police Department offers free safety classes for the community. The community is invited to learn how to prevent child sexual abuse at one of two meetings provided in partnership with the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy. The meetings are scheduled for Thursday, March 17 and Wednesday, April 27 from 1-3 p.m. at the SSPD Headquarters. Click here for more information to register.

TAX RETURNS FILED FOR FREE AT THE COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE CENTER
This free service is available to any household earning less than $53,000 in 2015. Meet with CAC's team of trained and certified volunteer tax preparers with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, an initiative of the United Way and the IRS. The program saves filers on preparation costs and ensures proper filing using all available credits and deductions! Appointments are required and available now through April 11. The program is open to qualifying residents in the Atlanta area. For more information on CAC and VITA, visit the CAC website at

CAC - FOOD PANTRY URGENT NEEDS
The next time you go grocery shopping, please consider picking up a bag of food for local families in need. The CAC Food Pantry has on its grocery list Pasta, Tomato Sauce, Cereal and Tuna. The CAC Food Pantry receives about 1,200 visits a month and distributes about 45,000 pounds of food a year worth about $850,000! For more information visit the CAC website at

The 7th annual Atlanta Jewish Music Festival kicks into full swing this month with a diverse line-up of local, national and international musicians. March 14 (3.14) might be Pi Day, but everyday can be pie day with the officially opening of Buttermilk Sky Pie. Councilmen Bauman and Sterling, and members of the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce helped welcome the new business to its new home at the Gateway complex on Roswell Road. This is Buttermilk Sky Pie's first Georgia location.

Located at 330 Sandy Springs Circle, the family-owned business started their business in Sandy Springs and is thrilled to be back!
