The newsletter of the Friends of the Rowley Public Library

March 2016
Mobile Mini-Golf at the Library Friday March 4
Stop by the Rowley Public Library to try out our practice Mini-golf hole, then sign up for a tee-time on Friday, March 4 (an early release day in the Triton Regional School District.) The Rowley Library will be transformed into an indoor nine-hole miniature golf course. The Friends of the Rowley Library are sponsoring the event so the only "greens-fee" for the public is a requested donation for the Rowley Food Pantry. Individual holes are being sponsored by Rowley Family Dental Center, Rowley Realty, The Institution for Savings, First Ipswich Bank, and other local organizations.
Knitting Group continues on Tuesday evenings
Bring your project and knit with us on Tuesday evenings from 6-8 pm.
There is no instructor but beginners are welcome. We will all help each other.
Rowley Reads 2016 title is The Time Machine by HG Wells

As the Rowley Public Library celebrates the quasquicentennial (125th) anniversary of its founding in 1891, we'll be looking both forwards and backwards in time. Wells' classic, (he coined the term "time-travel!") first published in 1895, will be our Rowley Reads selection. It is available as a free audiobook or ebook download from Project Gutenberg. There are also copies available at the library. Over the next few weeks we'll be showing time-travel movies on the big screen, including both the 1960 and 2002 versions of The Time Machine, and Time After Time, in which HG Wells, played by Malcolm McDowell, pursues Jack the Ripper through time. Family friendly movies will include Land of the Lost - Will Ferrell battles dinosaurs! - and Back to the Future. See the web site for times & dates.
Celebrate Time-Travel with a Dr. Who Day Saturday April 2, 1-4 pm

Pose for a selfie with the TARDIS, play games and trivia, enjoy snacks, crafts, and activities for all ages. Dr. Who themed door prizes will be awarded. Come in costume for even more fun!
March's featured artist at Rowley Public Library

Our featured artist this month is Kathleen Bennett, a local painter with a passion for oils. With a specialty for coastal landscapes, Kathleen enjoys capturing nature's raw beauty especially intricate skies. She is a member of the Newburyport Art Association and Woburn Artist's Guild and has displayed many paintings in the gallery's juried shows. Kathleen comes from a long line of New England artists. She will be displaying her latest collection, "Skies," through March.
