National Donate Life Month

            Currently there are more than 124,00 people waiting for organ transplants to save their lives and thousands more are in need of tissue and cornea transplants to restore their mobility and sight.

            Celebrated in April each year, Donate Life America and its partnering organizations established National Donate Life Month in 2003 to highlight local, regional and national activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors and to celebrate those that have saved lives through the gift of donation.

Why organ, eye, and tissue donation?

• 21 people will die each day waiting for an organ
• 1 organ donor can save up to 8 lives
• 79 people receive organ transplants each day
• 120 million people in the U.S. are currently organ donors
