CHICAGO YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION FUNDRAISER
Hundreds of people gathered Sunday evening on the Southwest Side to raise awareness on the growing violence across Chicago. Local leaders, including Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, attended the Bright Star Community Outreach fundraiser. The organization works to prevent youth violence and offers counseling for children and families who have gone through traumatic experiences. Read more...
ILLINOIS PLANNED PARENTHOOD EXPANDING SERVICES 
Planned Parenthood of Illinois is expanding and moving ahead with ambitious makeovers of the organization's 17 health centers in Illinois. The national organization celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Carole Brite, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Illinois, said that even through the recent political, legal, or violent attacks on Planned Parenthood, "These doors stay open." KATHRYN SULLIVAN APPOINTED TO HANGER, INC. BOARD
Kathryn Sullivan, CEO of United Healthcare, Employer & Individual Local Markets, was elected to the Board of Directors of Hanger, Inc. as an independent director, effective immediately.

"Kathryn has vast experience as a senior executive in the third-party payer sector of the health care industry and deep expertise in financial accounting," says Vinit Asar, President and CEO of Hanger. "Combined with her past experience on the audit and compensation committees for a public financial-services company, she will be a valuable addition to Hanger's Board of Directors." Read more...
BRENDA WOLF APPOINTED TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR ILLINOIS HEALTH AND HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION 
President and CEO of La Rabida Children's Hospital (Brenda Wolf) has been named to the board of trustees for the Illinois Health and Hospital Association, an integrated statewide organization representing more than 200 hospitals and nearly 50 health systems. The organization is a result of a recent merger between the former Illinois Hospital Association ( Maryjane A. Wurth) and the former Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council. CHRISTIE HEFNER AND TONI PRECKWINKLE ON DRUGS, CRIME & PUNISHMENT
The Economic Club of Chicago (Donna Zarcone) hosted its second forum on drugs, crime and punishment on January 15th. Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle served on the distinguished panel, as she considered the current state of the criminal justice system in the city and the nation, and discussed what actions can be taken to drive positive change. The program was moderated by Christie Hefner.

T op women in powerful leadership positions participated in a panel discussion and shared their career journeys at the "Empowering Through Leadership" program on Wednesday, January 20, hosted by Kirkland & Ellis . The panel included T heresa Mintle, President and CEO of Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Linda Myers, Global Management Executive Committee Member and Partner of Kirkland & Ellis, and TCN President and CEO Kate Bensen
LORI ANDREWS ON IMPACT AND CHANGE 
Last week, Lori Andrews, Distinguished Professor of Law and Director of the Institute for Science, Law and Technology - spoke in New York City at a Summit entitled, "i3 - Insight, Innovation, Impact - A Summit for Women." Sponsored by the UJA-Federation, the Summit brought together female thought leaders to share their stories of impact and change. Lori Andrews spoke about internet privacy and cybersecurity.  
JILL WINE-BANKS SEARCHES TO IMPROVE HANDLING OF SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES  
Jill Wine-Banks had the privilege of serving on a Department of Defense subcommittee that was tasked with reviewing how to improve handling sexual assault cases under the Code of Military Justice. They have completed their assessment of and submitted recommendations for change and are hopeful they will be implemented.
