We give you a short wrap up of Week Two of the Farmer's Market and what's coming for Week Three.

The balance of the issue is related to roads, roads, and more roads.  Did you hear "construction" in there somewhere?

Farmer's Market:  Week Two

We now have two weeks behind us and things are growing.  Pun INtended.  Last week, we added Gimmee Granola which sells all kinds of granola products, apple chips, banana chips and their unique "Popola".  Many of the products are gluten-free.

Produce vendors will increase in number beginning this Friday.  Our market sells only local produce. Because of the cool spring, the veggie crops here are two to three weeks behind schedule.  That changes Friday when the famous Mirai Corn shows up as a new vendor.  If you've never had it, you're in for the sweet corn treat of your life.

Week Four will see two more "full service" fruit and vegetable vendors.

Last week's newsletter gave you a summary of our vendors so you can check that out.  There is plenty of parking with the grassy area just to the east of Village Hall available.

 See you there.
Township News

Newport Township officials have advised us that much work has been completed on Edwards Road. The pavement has been patched, shoulders improved and the grass and weeds mowed.  Good work guys.  This was long overdue.
Wadsworth and Green Bay Roads Project

Here is a project update from Lori Schendl, a spokesperson from Baxter and Woodman whom are providing construction observation services for this Lake County Division of Transportation project.  As you know, these two thoroughfares are county and state roads and, as such, our Village has no jurisdiction over them.  Here is her report:

"Erosion control measures (silt fence installation) are complete.  Temporary storm sewer installation began this week on the north side of Wadsworth Road from Cambridge Boulevard toward Green Bay Road.

Temporary signal installation also began at Wadsworth Road and Green Bay Road.  To accommodate the widened roadway, some trees within the project limits will need to be removed. This removal will begin next week.  Once removal is complete, excavation for the detention basins located along the north side of Wadsworth Road will begin.

Utility relocation (AT&T and North Shore Gas) are ongoing.  Use caution while traveling through this area.  Watch for flaggers as temporary lane closures may be necessary.  Please drive safely and remember that in all construction zones cell phone use is prohibited."
