From the Editor -
Our Easter Egg hunt is coming up so mark your calendar for April 19. SWALCO has some things on sale that might interest you and the rescheduled comp plan public hearing is May 1. Details are below.
Sales tax is the single most important revenue source of the Village. We encourage you to shop at our retailers because a portion of every sales tax dollar comes back to us. As additional encouragement, we have begun to include discount coupons in the newsletter, having previously printed them for Dunkin' Donuts and Tracy's Bistro. This issue offers you a coupon for 20% off any barbecue item from Captain Porky's. See below.
As always, we welcome your comments on how to improve this newsletter as well as any additional content you might want to see.

Our Easter Egg Hunt Returns -
Grab your kids and grandkids and come to our annual Easter Egg Hunt. It's at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 (the day before Easter) outside the Village Hall. There will be thousands of plastic eggs stuffed with goodies that aren't necessarily good for one's teeth but what the heck? Even though it's a serious holiday for many people, it's okay for the kids to have a little fun that day.
The event will be organized and run by the Wadsworth Queens, a group of the most wonderful young girls you can imagine. They have volunteered to do many things for the Village including events like the Farmers' Market, Christmas Tree Lighting, this event, and others.
The Queens work and grow under the tutelage of two wonderful ladies, Angelique Marie ([email protected]) and Sharon Bertrand ([email protected]) who both devote countless hours helping the Queens mature into outstanding young women. Feel free to contact Angelique or Sharon if you have any questions about the Easter Egg Hunt or the Queens Program. Volunteers are always welcome, too. Finally, bring your camera because you'll get great shots of kids dressed in colorful outfits having the time of their lives. Unfortunately, I cannot be there so I'm relying on you to take some good pictures!

SWALCO Sale -
What is SWALCO you ask? It stands for the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, the government body that oversees the disposal of solid waste. They have teamed up with the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission and the Lake County Forest Preserve District to co-sponsor their annual sale.
Rain barrels, compost bins, and related accessories will be available at affordable prices along with a wonderful selection of native plants, including flowers, shrubs, grasses and trees. Here is a link to a descriptive flyer and info about the SWALCO sale event.
Staff will be on hand to demonstrate how to set up and operate any of the products as well as answer questions.
For more information, you may call Marleanne Rampale at 847-336-9340 Ext. 4.

Public Hearing -
The next public hearing for the Comprehensive Plan will be on Thursday, May 1 at 7PM. Please note this meeting will be held at the Village Hall and not at Prairie Trail School.
The plan, although more of a vision than an actual plan, is still in draft form and your input is needed. Remember, this is YOUR Village.
The current draft can be viewed by clicking here. |
