The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) has initiated a Phase I Study to address the need for improvements to the intersections of Wadsworth Road at Dilleys Road, US-41 and Kilbourne Road.  This project is anticipated to include intersection improvements to resolve:

• Safety issues
• Existing geometric and capacity deficiencies
• Projected future travel demand for the year 2040
• Increased mobility

The project includes a Phase I Engineering and Environmental Studies (Phase I Study).  The Phase I Study will follow federal project development procedures to ensure eligibility for federal funding.  As such, project development will be coordinated with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) for reviews and for Phase I Design Approval.

 

As part of this study the problems and issues will be identified; an initial range of alternatives will be evaluated to identify those alternatives that best address the identified problems and issues, account for project costs and constructability and avoid or minimize impacts.  

 

Alternatives will be evaluated at each intersection and coordinated with project stakeholders to gain their input.  (For more information about public involvement opportunities, please click HERE)  

 

The Project Study Group (PSG) consists of LCDOT, IDOT and the FHWA - who are responsible for selecting a preferred alternative for each intersection.   

 

This study is anticipated to be completed within 30 months.
