Automatic Payment Option Available for Water Bills
 The Wind Point Water Utility now offers an ACH payment option for automatic payments of the quarterly water bills. To sign up, complete the ACH Authorization Form and submit it to the Village Office along with a voided check (for checking accounts). Click here to download the form. Residents who are signed up for ACH payments will continue to receive a quarterly bill in the mail to inform them of their water usage and amount due. The deduction from the bank account will take place on the 15th of the month the bill is due (April, July, October, January). If the 15th falls on a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday, payment will be taken out on the following business day. Please allow up to 30 days from when an authorization form is received for electronic payment to start. Residents who sign up for ACH payments should continue to mail in payment by the due date until "Direct Payment" is shown on the bill. |

View Property Assessment Information Online
Property assessment records are now available online from the Village Assessor's website at apraz.com. The easiest way to search is to type the first few letters of the street name and then click search. Most records include square footage, year built, number of rooms, housing type and more. If you notice any errors, send an email to assessor at [email protected]. |

Associated Appraisal Letters and Field Work
The Village's new assessor, Associated Appraisal, is in the process of collecting information on recent home sales for an annual filing with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. If you recently purchased your home, you may receive a questionnaire from Associated Appraisal.
Gerad Gage from Associated Appraisal will be in the Village in late February to complete fieldwork for the 2015 assessment roll. Gerad will inspect properties where improvements have been made in the last year. Gerad will be in a Jeep marked "Associated Appraisal" and he will carry identification and his assessor's license.

Village Staff Updates
 Jan Osborn has accepted the position of court clerk, which was vacated by Barb Miceli who retired on January 2. Jan will now serve both as the Village's accounting clerk and court clerk. Congratulations, Jan!

Reminder to Clean Up Dog Waste
 Sec. 15-17(6) of the Village Code requires dog owners to pick up and properly dispose of dog waste. No matter the time of year or the size of the dog, cleaning up after your dog is considerate and expected.
Scooping your pooch's poop is not just a courtesy for those walking behind you; it is also the healthy and environmentally sound thing to do. Pet waste can be a significant source of water pollution. When pet waste is not properly disposed, it can be carried by rain or snow runoff directly into nearby waterbodies or into storm drains. Untreated animal fecal matter and wastes can
become a source of harmful bacteria and
nutrients in water. Just as we don't want human sewage in our water, it is important to prevent pet waste from being carried into our
waterways because of negligence.
2015 Dog Licenses April 1 is the deadline for renewing dog licenses. A dog license application, along with license fee and copy of rabies certificate, should be submitted for each dog to the Village Office by mail, dropbox or in-person. If submitting by mail, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the tag and receipt to be returned to you.

Candidates File for Village Board and Municipal Judge
The deadline for filing nomination papers to run for local office was January 6. For Village Board Trustee, incumbents Susan Sanabria and Marty Meissner filed papers, along with newcomer Lincoln Murphy. Village Board incumbent Dave Durment did not seek reelection.
Incumbents Pete Christensen and John Knuteson will run unopposed for Village President and Municipal Judge, respectively. The Spring Election will take place on Tuesday, April 7. No primary election will be held in Wind Point on February 17.

Notice of Coyote Sightings
 There have been several reports recently of coyote sightings in the Village. The DNR says that coyotes are not dangerous to humans, but they may attack small pets. Take a few simple precautions. While medium and large size dogs will scare them away, keep your smaller dogs and cats safe by not leaving them unattended at any time, especially between the hours of dawn and dusk when coyotes do most of their roaming. Do not feed coyotes or leave food out in the yard - even bird feeders are an attraction. If confronted, coyotes can be scared away with flashing lights, loud noises, stones thrown at them or spraying with a hose. |

Lighthouse Hall and South Lawn Reservations
The Wind Point Lighthouse is a great place to host a small or medium sized event:
- The Hall is an excellent space for meetings, book clubs, dinners and other small gatherings. It can hold up to 35 people and features a full kitchen with dishwasher, restrooms, front lobby, tables, chairs and ADA entrance.
- The South Lawn is set along Lake Michigan and is an amazing location for hosting ceremonies, picnics or other events. The south lawn is rented for groups up to 150 people. If you rent the south lawn, use of Village Hall is included. We allow tents on the lawn, however, no dance floors.

Tax Payments After Jan. 31 Due to Racine County
The first installment or full payment of 2014 property taxes were due to the Wind Point Treasurer on January 31. All payments after January 31 must be made with the Racine County Treasurer. Second installments are due July 31. Please note the County assesses a 1.5% per month penalty for late payments. |

Village Board Highlights
The Village Board held a regular meeting on Thursday, January 8. The Board...
- Approved a Conditional Use Permit Application to build a greenhouse, dining room addition and patio at 5333 Wind Point Rd., subject to the zoning administrator's conditions.
- Heard a report from Village Engineer Madsen on bidding the 2015 road project on Lamplighter Ln.
- Approved the 2015 wage schedule (Resolution 15-R01).
- Approved a 2014 budget amendment (Resolution 15-R02).
- Accepted a personnel manual amendment establishing a police officer probationary period and clarifying holiday benefits and life insurance.
- Referred the administrator to contact Racine County about adding a "cross traffic does not stop" sign to the stop sign on N. Main St. (at Four Mile Rd.)
The Village Board will meet for a regular meeting on Thursday, February 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Village Hall (Lighthouse).
