By Friends of the Wind Point Lighthouse
Please join us on the July 5 climb to the top of the Wind Point Lighthouse and visit the Fog Horn Building Museum, the Gift Shop and the Memorial Garden on the shore of Lake Michigan. It's a wonderful experience for you, your family and friends. The 144 steps in the spiral staircase to the top require sturdy shoes (no flip-flops or high heels) and a certain level of fitness. Due to safety and liability concerns, children under six are not allowed to climb. Go to the lighthouse web site to sign up for the climbs on the hour; on the half-hour, you can register on-site. However, you may have to wait depending on the number of climbers ahead of you. Cost is $5 for those 6 - 12 and $10 for ages 13 and older.
We have new items in the Gift Shop (embroidered fleeces, t-shirts, caps, mugs and Jim Charnon's Collection of photos, cards and puzzles plus books and other souvenirs of your visit). We also have a new exhibit of the anchor from the Alice and a new diorama of the Wind Point Lighthouse around 1910 developed by Jim Charnon and Jim Erven, members of Friends. We hope to see you on the 5th.
