Pre-Construction Meeting for Former Children's Memorial Hospital Site
As you know, the sale of the
former Children's Memorial Hospital
to developers McCaffery Interests and Hines was recently finalized. The sale of the parcel will allow the redevelopment of the site to begin in the near future. For additional information about the project, please see on

Prior to any demolition on the site, there will be a community meeting in accordance with the extensive
community agreement that was entered into during the negotiations on this parcel.
During this public meeting, the development team will provide a detailed presentation of the projected construction plans and schedule, the site mobilization timetable and logistics as well as the plans for community outreach during the construction process. We urge you to attend.

Early Voting Now in the 43rd Ward
Though the date of the Illinois primary election is March 15, 2016, county-wide early voting starts TODAY, February 29th.
If you are not registered to vote, you may register to vote at the early vote locations if you bring two forms of identification, including your current address.

Chicago Residential Zone Parking Pass Changes
Beginning March 1st, there will be some changes to the City of Chicago Residential Zone Parking Program. Please note the following:
- Residents can now purchase up to three sheets of permits per 30 day period. Each sheet of 15 daily permits is $8.00.

Our office will
NO LONGER be able to create new resident records. If you do not have a resident record in the system, the Office of the City Clerk must create a record prior to our office being able to sell you permits. Email proof of your address and a photo ID to
[email protected]. This process can take up to 2-3 business days.

A Chicago City Clerk's Office employee will be in the 43rd Ward office on Tuesday, March 1st at 9 AM to count our current residential parking pass stock, and we WILL NOT be able to sell passes until the process is completed. It is anticipated to take about an hour, and we will keep residents notified via our Twitter account (@AldermanSmith43) and website updates.

The Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., is hosting a party to celebrate Chicago's 179th year. Doors open at 10 AM in the Chicago room, and the program begins at 11 AM, with free birthday cake provided by Eli's Cheesecake and lemonade to follow. Anyone who shares the same birthday will receive a special certificate. Ad
mission is free for Illinois residents.
Office Closed Monday, March 7
In observance of Casimir Pulaski Day, our office will be closed on Monday, March 7th.
City Hall, City of Chicago governmental offices and Chicago Public Libraries will also be closed on these dates to comply with the City of Chicago
mandatory holiday schedule .

CAPS Calendar
The 18th District Chicago Police Department Precinct has released its
March calendar of community meetings. CAPS meetings are a great way to receive information about crime and safety in your neighborhoods, and are presented by representatives on
the force.
There will be a special beat meeting on Thursday, March 10th at 6:30 p.m. at the St. James Lutheran Church & School, 2101 N. Fremont. CPD officers will address security issues that concern 43rd ward residents, and will answer questions raised by attendees. The meeting is open to all ward residents.
