Card skimmers like this one can be placed directly over ATMs and fuel stations by fraudsters eager to steal your card number and PIN. They look legitimate upon first glance and are mostly still functional for the user.
Pin-hole cameras are placed somewhere overhead, such as in the light (so they can record you entering your PIN), and may be equipped with audio capabilities. Look for tell-tale signs of skimmers; they are often bulkier-looking and have gaps from imperfect installation, such as the one shown here. Look for anything that looks tampered with, or is insecurely or haphazardly installed. If something looks suspicious, check with the bank or the retailer before you use it.
