On Sunday, March 20, Mayor Kriseman and Deputy Mayor Tomalin will join local Tampa Bay Rays fans and travel to Cuba. While there, they will join President Obama for an historic game between the Rays and the Cuban National Team.

Tampa Bay Times: Bike Share: It's hip and safe
As the St. Petersburg City Council readies for an initial vote on Mayor Rick Kriseman's $1.5 million bike share program on Thursday, it's worth considering a study concluding that bike share riders are safer than other bicyclists.
The peer-reviewed study by the Mineta Transportation Institute found that, despite fewer bike share riders wearing helmets than regular riders, they were involved in fewer vehicle collision.

St. Petersburg City Council members got a look at some updated renderings of the new St. Pete Pier.
The Pier design team - Rogers Architects+Urban Designers and ASD - unveiled the new images during a City Council meeting Thursday morning after getting opinions from the public earlier in the week.

It's official. Mayor Rick Kriseman, Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin and Kriseman's chief of staff, Kevin King, will be traveling to Cuba next week to see the Tampa Bay Rays play an exhibition game and pursue closer ties with the island nation.

Bay News 9: Downtown St. Pete introduces new back-in parking spaces
Drivers in downtown St. Petersburg may see an unfamiliar line-up of cars along the border of Williams Park.
The city is studying 14 back-in spaces along 2nd Avenue North between 3rd Street North and 4th Street North.
Previously P.S.T.A. buses used the space as part of the downtown stops, but those stops have been relocated. Evan Mory, Director of Parking and Transportation for the City of St Petersburg, had the new angled parking installed in their place.

President Obama is heading to Cuba this weekend and he's not alone; many Tampa Bay area residents, government officials and even the region's Major League Baseball team are going as well.
