Things continue to move forward at a rapid pace in FVSD and we are extremely proud of the work that is taking place at each of our school sites, as well as throughout our entire district.  There is tremendous progress in the areas of professional development, teacher collaboration, technology, facilities, parent engagement and communication.

As we approach Spring Break (March 28 - April 1), it continues to be an exciting time for our students and staff.  And, I hope everyone has a safe, happy and relaxing time with family and friends.

Once again, t hank you for all that you do to support teaching and learning in our District!

Kindly,

Mark Johnson, Ed.D.
Superintendent
HIGHLIGHT: FVSD Names Lisa Diecidue Teacher of the Year 2016!

We are proud to announce that Mrs. Lisa Diecidue, 3rd-5th grade Ed. Specialist at Oka Elementary, has been named Fountain Valley School District's Teacher of the Year for 2016! Congratulations, Lisa!
FOCUS: Dr. Sandra Kaplan Comes to FVSD!

In true FVSD style, we are extremely pleased to announce the beginning of a long-term relationship with Dr. Sandra Kaplan, national expert on Depth and Complexity and GATE education, and her extraordinary colleague, Dr. Jessica Manzone.  Recently, over 40 elementary teachers participated in training with Dr. Kaplan and we have plans to bring her back for a second day of training later this spring.  Dr. Kaplan is the developer/creator of the Prompts (Icons) of Depth and Complexity and has studied rigor and giftedness for most of her career.  We are highly confident that this relationship with Dr. Kaplan will allow FVSD to continue its long-standing tradition of excellence!

We want to send a special THANK YOU to the Tamura Elementary Staff for their energy in bringing Dr. Kaplan to FVSD!
