Midsummer 2015

Summer is upon us!  Some of us have already taken a vacation or two.  The rest of us are eagerly anticipating a future get-away.  And, others are enjoying a summer Staycation, with many great local places to visit and activities in which to participate.
How Do I Keep My Pets Safe on July 4th?
  • Make sure your pets are wearing up-to-date ID tags.
  • Take a current photo of your pet, just in case.
  • Exercise your dog early in the day, before festivities begin.
  • During cookouts, ask your guests to play with your dog away from flames/grills.
  • Keep charcoal, fireworks, glowsticks and sparklers far away from curious dogs and cats.
  • Keep dog treats on hand for those who want to give your dog food.
  • Leave your dog at home with a frozen stuffed kong, during the fireworks (recipes, here).
  • If your dog is afraid of loud noises, leave gentle music playing to cover the fireworks.
