Father Greg Boyle

Keynote Speaker: Father Greg Boyle

We are excited to announce that Father Greg Boyle, founder and Executive Director of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, will be a keynote speaker at the 2016 NAMI California Annual Conference.

From 1986 to 1992, Father Boyle served as pastor of Dolores Mission Church in East LA, at the time the poorest Catholic parish in the city, located amid two large public housing projects and the territories of numerous rival gangs. It was there that he started what would become Homeboy Industries, which has become the largest gang intervention, rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world. Homeboy trains and employs former gang members in a range of social enterprises, as well as providing critical services to over 10,000 people who walk through its doors every year seeking a better life.

Father Boyle is the author of the 2010 New York Times-bestselling book Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion. He is at work on his second book, Barking to the Choir: Now Entering the Kinship of God Father Boyle has received the California Peace Prize and was inducted into the California Hall of Fame in 2011.  He was recently named 2016 Humanitarian of the Year by the national culinary arts organization James Beard Foundation.
