Sunday Service
March 20, 2016 10:00 AM " Coexistence if Not Enough" Stewardship Kickoff *
Are we diluting the call to love each other? Do bumper stickers like COEXISTENCE and TOLERANCE make us feel good, but fall far short of the real goal of love?
Worship Leader: Rev Russ Menk
Worship Associate: Randy James
* A special Stewardship Kickoff Lunch for members and friends will take place after the service, to be followed by a short, fun program. Don't miss it!"

What? THE GREAT CHILI COOK-OFF
(Sponsored by the Mid-County Homeless Coalition)
When? FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 6 PM (TGIF!)
Where? THE RESURRECTION CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
7600 Soquel Drive (corner of State Park Drive)
Why?
Here is our opportunity as a Unitarian Universalist congregation to make positive changes in a local social justice project with the collective help of other faith communities in our area. It is something we can't do on our own, but can collectively cooperate to raise the money to provide showers for the homeless in our mid county area.
1. Meet like-minded people who want to help the homeless in Santa Cruz.
2. Raise funds for local homeless services, with a focus on providing showers.
3. Show our community that we UU's don't just talk about issues, we act! ( "Sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul" Edward Abbey )
4. Have fun! Eat good food! ( these are things we UU's do well.)
In addition to chili, there will be cornbread, desserts,
beverages. There will be two live bands, Coastal Prairie (formerly Farmers Market String Band) and B Movie Kings.
We are encouraged to have costumes (our UUFSCC T shirts?), signs, and a special name for our chili.
5. Show our support for Michele Pomroy (who prepared the winning chili in our semi-finals) and all the others who
submitted chili.
There is a $20 donation for each person (children under 12 free) and
we hope everyone will contribute. If you can not contribute the full amount, see Russ.
If you are unable to attend this fellowship-wide
SOCIAL ACTION EVENT, please consider participating with a donation for the showers.

Mark the date for the 2016 Stewardship Campaign
This year's campaign theme is Our Roots/Our Dreams: Celebrating 150 years of Unitarian Universalism in Santa Cruz County and 50 years at the Fellowship.
The campaign will kick-off this week with a special lunch and celebratory program on
Sunday, March 20 after the service.
This will be followed by a series of inspirational and informational cottage meetings, hosted by members throughout the county between March 21 and April 11, that will provide an opportunity for us to share our personal vision for the Fellowship and fill out and hand in our pledge forms at this time.
You will receive a letter soon with more information about the campaign. Please look for a Meeting Wizard invitation to arrive by email shortly with the dates and locations for cottage meetings, and respond with your availability.

Tuesday April 19th 7:00PM - Bryans ROOM
We meet the third Tuesday of the month.
Our next meeting, April, will be a bit different. We did this last year and it was a fun change of pace: Bring a poem to share, some prose, or a reading from a book that you find particularly to your liking (you may even make a book suggestion from it!)
We plan a couple months ahead, so bring suggestions if you like.
All welcome at the book discussion. Questions? Call Linda Monk at 724-4089.
