's Newest Family has Successfully Arrived
From Peggy Zamore: "Everything went very well with the JFK pick-up of our refugee family even including the flight arriving slightly early. The house was all lit up like a Currier and Ives photo when we pulled up to take them into their new home, and the whole family seemed very pleased and happy notwithstanding how tired they must have been!
"The young widow mother is everything we expected - and more -- and she and the children should be the poster children for refugee resettlement. They are so appreciative of everything that has been done.
"As it was, even after such a long series of plane trips, the children held it all together and their mother maintained her poise and a gentle calm that speaks of such strength and determination yet also of great peace and the ability to handle well whatever happens. Our strong sense is that we have the best family we could imagine to work with and help to succeed in their new homeland and that they in turn, like so many immigrants before them in America's history, have so much to offer our nation. Thank you for all you have done to make this possible, and now the work continues to help them create a self-sustainable life here in America."
Please contact Peggy or Don if you can help! See also the 3/13 Wilton Bulletin article on this initiative!
