With the long weekend approaching, I'd like to take the opportunity to share some upcoming news and events of interest to ward residents:
Office Closed Monday, January 18th
In observance of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, Alderman Smith's Office will be closed on Monday, January 18th.
City Hall, City of Chicago governmental offices, and Chicago Public Libraries will also be closed on Monday, January 18th to comply with the City of Chicago mandatory holiday schedule.
If you have a need for city services, please call 311 for non-emergency requests, or dial 9-1-1 if you require immediate assistance.
Last Chance for Christmas Tree Recycling
Chicago's annual Christmas tree recycling program is running through Saturday, January 16, 2016.
Live trees can be dropped off in Lincoln Park at the Peggy Notebaert Museum, located at 2430 N. Cannon Dr. Ornaments, lights, and tinsel must be removed before trees are dropped off, and wreaths and garlands aren't accepted. Free mulch will be available for to pick-up beginning on January 11 at this location.

Polar Peace March
Join
St. Paul's Church
on Sunday, January 17th as they honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and take a stand against violence. The 1 mile walk benefits
UCAN
and its violence prevention initiative in Chicago. This family friendly event will start at 4:00 PM and conclude with a cup of soup in the gym. You're invited to walk, raise pledges for UCAN, and volunteer on the day of the event.

The Cook County Board of Review is open for property valuation appeals for the North Township (properties south of Fullerton) until
January 19th, 2016
