INVOLVEMENT IN EDUCATION

A Guilford High School student designed impressive banners for the Rockford Fire Department. This is just one example of community collaboration and involvement within our schools. By joining one of Alignment Rockford's A-Teams, or one of Rockford Public School's Academy Support Teams/College and Career Readiness Councils community members are provided the opportunity to collaborate with classrooms, staff, and students to help ensure that graduating students are leaving high school with the experiences and skills  necessary for careers within local industries.  Click here to learn more.
ACADEMY PRIDE
Jefferson High School's EMITT (Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial and Trades Technology) Academy held a block party in April celebrating the students' hard work within the academy whose mission states: "The Jefferson EMITT academy develops innovators with the skills to design and build better communities." Students displayed their work and challenged visitors to EMITT-themed games such as firing miniature trebuchets and a giant game of Jenga.

ABOUT ACADEMY INVOLVEMENT
Donate Old Medicine Bottles!
Easy Way to Help! Each month throughout the school year, we will include in our Newsletter specific needs at specific schools where you can easily help. This month we are asking community members to simply donate empty medicine bottles. The Human Services Academy at Jefferson High School is collecting empty medicine bottles to fulfill a critical need in Malawi. By helping with this you are not only helping students learn the processes of coordinating such a human service effort, you are also helping those in Malawi who really need it. Click the image to the left for details. Please help! Shipments go out mid-May.

How To Get Involved... It's Easy!
Whether you like working with students in the schools or behind the scenes in a boardroom; if you prefer regular meetings with specific initiatives or more roundtable discussions; if you simply want to volunteer once or on a more regular basis; or if you want to help by just spreading the word, Alignment Rockford needs your help! Click here to learn more or email Alignment Rockford's Community Engagement Coordinator, Katy Haun, for additional information on volunteer opportunities.

Alignment Rockford is a collective impact organization whose mission is to align community resources in support of public school strategies to raise student achievement, improve the health and happiness of our children, and advance the economic and social well-being of our community.
