Palmetto Bay Celebrates Arbor Day!
Palmetto Bay was also awarded with the Tree City USA Designation for the eighth consecutive year.
PALMETTO BAY, FL -  The Village of Palmetto Bay celebrated Arbor Day along with the Village's eighth consecutive Tree City USA designation early Friday morning at Palmetto Bay Park.

Kindergartners  from the Winhold Montessori School helped Mayor Eugene Flinn and Councilwoman Karyn Cunningham plant the tree in honor of Arbor Day. The children learned about the importance of trees in their community by Tree Advisory Board Member, Rainer Schael.

Councilwoman Cunningham said, "It was great having two of our community's most valuable resources together for the Arbor Day celebration, our children and our parks. Our children learn best by doing and today we had the opportunity to impart the lessons of respect of our beautiful parks and the value of those green spaces."

Mayor Flinn expressed his excitement that the Village has continued its Tree City USA designation for yet another year.

The Tree City USA designation is provided by The Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service, to recognize environmental improvement and encourage higher levels of tree care throughout America. This award is designed not only to recognize achievement, but also to communicate new ideas and help the leaders of all Tree City USAs plan for improving community tree care.
