State Launches New Assistance Application Portal

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services is launching a new self-service web portal called benefind, where Kentuckians can apply online for Medicaid, the Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program, food benefits and cash assistance.

KMA member Morris Weiss, MD , a cardiologist with the Medical Center Cardiologists PSC in Louisville, was interviewed on an episode of KET's "Kentucky Health" about a group of pioneering doctors and nurses who established facilities and provided services to African-Americans during the Reconstruction era and well into the 20th  century.

Grant Will Fund Study Anticoagulants and LVADs

KMA member Maya Guglin, MD, professor of medicine and director of the Ventricular Assist Program at the University of Kentucky Gill Heart Institute, has received a grant from device manufacturer St. Jude Medical to explore effective ways of managing anticoagulation in patients who require procedures after their LVAD implant.

Governor Reappoints KMA Member to KBWA Authority 

Tad Seifert, MD , KMA member and neurologist with Norton Healthcare, has been reappointed by Governor Matt Bevin to the Boxing and Wrestling Authority that oversees all professional boxing, wrestling and full contact competitive bouts and exhibitions held in Kentucky.
