Last month was Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month (JDAIM), and the Transitions to Work program was proud to celebrate a graduating class from customer service training with CVS Health. This class was featured in an article by CJP entitled "Making Change" and participants shared the impact of the program on their lives. In addition, Sharon Shapiro from The Ruderman Foundation - a longtime funder of the Transitions to Work program - penned an editorial for eJewish Philanthropy where she noted: 

"Learning over the years that only 19% of young adults with disabilities are employed convinced us that vocational training is an area to focus on. [...] Speak to one of the many employers who hired Transitions to Work graduates and you will find a high level of satisfaction and a high retention rate."

We gathered at the State House two weeks ago to celebrate adult students who completed the coursework required to attain their Boston Public High School diploma. One graduate, the class speaker, told those gathered that "JVS changed my life and my future." Inspired by the ceremony, JVS President and CEO Jerry Rubin wrote a blog post all about this unique program. Created for adults to receive a recognized credential, the Adult Diploma Program is intensive and modeled after a college schedule. Some students opt to co-enroll with the JVS Bridges to College program, allowing them to earn college credit while finishing up their high school requirements.
