In the Community

The BGC Marshfield Annual Gala was a huge success.  Community Leaders Chief Phil Tavares and  Dr. J eanine Tavares as well as Youth of the Year Sydney Eastman were honored during this fun filled night!  We had a sold out crowd and raised well over $100,000 to support the Club!  Kudos to the entire committee!



PROGRAMS NOTES

Check out what's been stirring up in the kitchen during our Teen Cooking program...

8-10 teens have been working hard along side volunteer Alli R. every Wednesday from 4:00-5:30 in the Molly's Kitchen at the Boys & Girls Club in Marshfield.  Here they re learning about kitchen safety, sanitation, nutrition, knife skills, substitutions, experimenting, and creativity and most importantly healthy eating habits.  So far they have ventured into making tacos with homemade guacamole and salsa, egg muffins with home made hash brown and ketchup, sushi and their favorite after school snacks, pretzels made from scratch and nachos with veggies and chicken!
 
ARTS & Creative Expression
 

News from the Salah Art Center!

L ast week the Art Room sent 10 paintings to New York for BGC regional and national art exhibitions. Ages 6-16 were represented in multiple categories including a wall mural done by a dozen young artists. Copies of their work/names are proudly displayed in the main hall of our club. These BGC annual exhibitions are juried art shows. We expect to hear results in mid April.  Also, this past week, Anya Lane won the first BGC Photography Contest with a stunning monochromatic/color rendering of one of our  local marshes.  Congratulations to each of these artists for working hard and doing superlative work.

 

EDUCATION CENTER
Boys Book Club is in full swing, a group of 2nd grade boys get together on Wednesdays to read and discuss a book of their choice.  The group has chosen to read Mr. Jack is a Maniac by Dan Gutman. We are so impressed with the boys enthusiasm and commitment to their club!
 
IN THE GYM

The Fitness Center offers program for kids from 3yrs old to adult.  The core of our athletic programs are targeted to children grades 1st-8th.  We offer basketball, soccer hockey, gymnastics, archery, and  of course Gaga!!  We are also headed into our 2nd year of Clubhouse Sports Summer Camp!  Check out our Summer Camp brochure to learn more!



MEMBERS OF THE MONTH

What does it mean to be the Member of the Month?  At the end of each month, Club staff votes for an elementary and teen member who exemplifies the values of the Boys & Girls Club.  The member of the month must exhibit good behavior, good conduct, participation, positive role modeling, and must add positive qualities to the Club!  Congratulations to last month's winners:

In the community

Thank you to Buffalo Wild Wings for hosting the BGC Marshfield for it's pre-opening event!  Club families got together on Saturday night for a fabulous dinner.  All the proceeds from the night will be donated to the  Boys & Girls Club.
We look forward to BWW's Community day on April 13th!
