Every Wednesday for the month of March students at King's are encouraged to drop in to the Joanne and Peter Kenny Theatre before the lunch hour to share the power of rhythmic drumming. King's has been working in collaboration with Participation House to introduce "Drumming Circle" to campus.
The Participation House Support Services believes that every individual can contribute to their community in a valued and meaningful way if given the proper support and encouragement. The non-profit organization provides assistance to people with physical and/or developmental disabilities. The objective is to create an inclusive community.
The "Drumming Circle" is facilitated by Sheila Horrell. Horrell has been drumming for 25 years, and now conducts workshops and drumming circles all over Southwestern Ontario. The joy and relaxation associated with making music has led to her success. Students at King's can take the opportunity to de-stress and relax in these workshops by making their own rhythm.
Students are encouraged to bring their own drums, but drums will be provided. All levels of drummers and beginners are welcome to join in on the fun! There is no cost to attend the drop-in events. The sessions run from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. beginning on March 2 and running every Wednesday until March 30.

WHEN: March 31st, Thursday, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. WHERE: King's University, Wemple Building, STUDENT VITALI LOUNGE Than Clan will be hosting it's final major event for the winter academic term on March 31st from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the Student Vitali Lounge! Death cafes are respectful spaces for the discussion of all aspects of death, dying, and living with the conscious awareness of death. The event is based on group oriented discussion, and is simply put a place for people to share ideas, feelings, experiences, questions, concerns, and to honour death in our lives. Our aim is to increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their (finite) lives. Death cafe's are not grief groups, but rather to break the social taboo against speaking about death openly and with others. Cake, fruit, and other sweets will also be provided for your pleasure! ALL students, friends and faculty welcomed! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Email us at: [email protected].
|
