In commemoration of this annual observance highlighting and celebrating the varied and historic accomplishments of women, this edition provides statistical information on topics such as earnings, education, business ownership, voting, occupations, military service and marriage.

Brookings Institute: Growth, Prosperity and Inclusion in the 100 Largest U.S. Metro Areas 

 
Tulsa ranked well in the Brooking Institutes report. The Metro Monitor measures the performance of the nation's major metropolitan economies in three critical areas for economic development: growth, prosperity, and inclusion. Successful economic development should put a metropolitan economy on a higher trajectory of long-run growth (growth) by improving the productivity of individuals and firms in order to raise local standards of living (prosperity) for all people (inclusion). The Metro Monitor examines indicators within each of these categories that help assess metropolitan areas' progress toward shaping an advanced economy that works for all. Define the indicators»

Aging in the United States 

 
The current growth of the population ages 65 and older is one of the most significant demographic trends in the history of the United States. Baby boomers-those born between 1946 and 1964-have brought both challenges and opportunities to the economy, infrastructure, and
institutions as they have passed through each major stage of life. Although U.S. policymakers and others have had many decades to plan for the inevitable aging of the baby boom cohort, it is not clear that sufficient preparations have been made to meet baby boomers' anticipated needs in old age.
