Missions Collection: Operation Rice Bowl
Lent has traditionally been marked by penitential prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  In keeping with this tradition, our mission collection on Ash Wednesday, February 10, will be donated to Catholic Relief Services' Operation Rice Bowl.  Contributions to Operation Rice Bowl are used to support hunger and poverty relief projects overseas, as well as for hunger relief programs in our own Diocese of Harrisburg.  Please be generous as we begin this Lenten season.
Ash Wednesday Mass

Ash Wednesday Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 10 at 10 AM in the Auditorium.  Visitors are welcome.  Mrs. Weichert's Religion classes will be organizing the Mass as we begin our Lenten journey with Christ.
Special Assemblies
The Byrnes Health Education Center will be presenting three topics for our students the morning of Friday, February 12, at YC.  The 7th & 8th grade will attend "CyberWise," have a short break, and then divide by gender for "In Her Shoes" and "5 Men Up."   The 9th & 10th grade will attend "CyberWise," and the 11th and 12th grade will attend a presentation about responsible college budgeting and the use of credit presented by Attorney Steve Carr '74.

"CyberWise" r aises awareness about digital citizenship, emphasizing the principles of engaging in the online world positively and recognizing the everlasting nature and potential consequences of actions on electronics and online.

"In Her Shoes" is a unique character education program that combines media, and music to address female relational aggression. Topics include cyberbullying, sexting, bullycide and how to rise above difficult social situations encountered in middle school. The program focuses on the importance of empathy and respect and what to do when encountering gossip, exclusion, and betrayal.

"5 Men Up"  examines how society defines masculinity. Using media, music and class interaction, students will learn to recognize aggression and bullying. The program will create awareness and students will be given the skills needed to break the cycle and feel empowered to create change in this environment.
Early Dismissal
We will be dismissing students at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 12 so that teachers may attend an important In-service. School districts will run their pick-up earlier to accommodate our students.  There will be no supervision available in the building after 11:30 AM.  Any students remaining after dismissal will need to call a parent or guardian for pick-up.
