This Sunday  we celebrate the Transfiguration.  This amazing experience is a pivotal event in the life of Jesus.  The momentum switches from miraculous happenings in Galilee to a deliberate journey towards the cross in Jerusalem.  In our Gospel Lesson Simon Peter has great difficulty with this change.  He even voices his criticism of Jesus in this regard.  Even today there are followers of Jesus who want to bask in the glory, but avoid the cross.  Jesus make clears that following him is a journey both to and through the cross.
