Record attendance at 2014 Evergreen State Fair

The 2014 Evergreen State Fair, which is the largest annual event held in Snohomish County and one of the biggest in the Northwest, has just completed and we are glad to say it was a great fair. Overall, the 12-day fair set a new attendance record with 341,128 people enjoying the best crafts, animals and food in the northwest. A single day record of 46,273 people attending was set on Sunday, Aug. 31.

This year the vegetable displays were incredible and demonstrated that growing local food is really a part of what makes living in the northwest so great. Local citizens entered a record number of exhibits from their home gardens in the agriculture and food preservation departments. The agriculture exhibit and goat barn both won the Washington State Fair Commission's prestigious black and white award for outstanding exhibits.

Thrasher's Pub Golf Tournament successful fundraiser for Parks golfer cartoon scholarship/sponsorship program

Thanks to Thrasher's Pub and to all those who participated in this year's golf tournament, $3,112 was raised to contribute to the Snohomish County Parks Sponsorship Program.

These funds help those in financial need pay for children's swimming lessons, swim team participation, art camps, lego camps and other activities that they would not be able to participate in if these funds were not available.

Annual Pumpkin in the Park & Scarecrow Row at
Willis Tucker Park Saturday, Oct. 4

Be sure to enjoy an afternoon of activities such as a hay ride, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin hurl, campfire,  "smart phone" scavenger hunt, pumpkin/scarecrow photo shoot, popcorn and hot cider at Willis Tucker County Park.

Willis Tucker Park is located at 6705 Puget Park Drive, Snohomish 98036.

2014 Movies in the Park another successful movie series!

Thanks to Sundquist Homes for sponsoring the 8th annual movie series at Willis Tucker Park. The Mill Creek Lions Club, BridgeCity Church and Sno-Isle Library also partnered with Snohomish County Parks and Sundquist Homes to make a special evening in the park each week.

The highlight of the summer series was the kids on stage dancing with the minions and the hip hop dance troupe. Our biggest crowd of the year was during the "Frozen" movie when Princess Anna and Princess Elsa joined us for taking pictures. We had over 3,000 in attendance!

Mill Creek Lions Club provided food and beverage to movie attendees, brought their health screening unit and generously donated to the sponsorship/scholarship program. Sno-Isle Library provided great projects for the kids to do each Thursday night. BridgeCity Church, our new partner this year, provided all of the pre-movie entertainment which included a live band, the yo-yo man, the Princesses from "Frozen" and the minions from "Despicable Me 2".

And, of course, a big thank you to our South Ranger Team for setting up/breaking down/cleaning up and providing traffic control/direction, sometimes up to midnight!
