"I believe you are never past the point of creating opportunities for yourself."
-- Felicia Day
My wife and I have just discovered Felicia Day.
In her new memoir "You're never weird on the internet (almost)" she tells of her fascinating life's journey ... an amazing story of tenacity, hard work and persistence. Her story is inspirational.
 She was born in
Huntsville, Alabama and began acting at the age of 8 when she starred as Scout in a local production of
To Kill a Mockingbird. She studied operatic singing and ballet professionally, performing at concerts and competitions nationwide.
Home-schooled throughout much of her childhood, she began college at the age of 16.
She was a
National Merit Scholar (1995) and graduated as
valedictorian of her class. An accomplished
violinist, Day was accepted to the
Juilliard School of Music but chose to attend the
University of Texas at Austin on a full scholarship in violin performance. She double majored in
mathematics and music performance, and graduated at the age of 19 in the top 4% of her class. She is also an avid player of a wide variety of video game genres. Much of her work on
The Guild web series was based on her personal experience with video games
As a professional actress she has appeared in numerous mainstream television shows and films, currently recurring on the CW show
Supernatural, and recently completing a two-season arc on the SyFy series
Eureka.
However, Felicia is best known for her work in the web video world, behind and in front of the camera. She co-starred in Joss Whedon's Internet musical
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, which was ranked in the "Top 10 Best TV of 2008" by Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly and People Magazine and won an Emmy in 2009. She also created and stars in the hit web series
The Guild, which is currently in its sixth season.
The Guild has won numerous awards for web video excellence, garnering a PGA nomination for best web series in 2011. She has expanded the brand into numerous merchandising opportunities, including a hit comic book series with Dark Horse Comics.
Her production company Knights of Good produced the innovative web series
Dragon Age in conjunction with EA/Bioware in 2011 and in 2012 she launched a funded YouTube channel called Geek & Sundry. Since launching in April 2012, the channel has garnered over one million subscribers and over 200 million views.
If you have about 5-6 hours, it is a really fun read. Of course my wife and I listened to the audio version read by Felicia Day herself. Great!

Hello Everyone!
I am almost finished with my freshman class of Cosmetology school and have learned so much! For example: many different female and male haircuts, chemical relaxing, permanent waving, finger waving, pin curls, roller sets, and much more. I enjoy most creating complete looks with color, cut, and style. Being able to picture a look in my head and understand how to achieve it is a great joy. In Junior Class One I look forward to expanding on what little I have learned of hair color, and updo's.

And now also a new haircut!
After her wonderful wedding ceremony at the South Coast Botanical Garden (Palos Verde) and 2 weeks of relaxing honeymoon, Heather is now back to work in the salon. Having grown her hair longer so she'd have some length for her wedding hairstyle, she is excited to start experimenting.
Her new husband, Andrew, has always enjoyed her adventurous spirit, and is equally enthusiastic about her trying new looks. He told her to "go for it!"

She recently traveled back to So Cal for her sister's wedding. Of course, she made an appointment to see me. And, being so photogenic, this gave me the opportunity to capture new images.
After her cut and blonde highlights, I allowed extra time for a photo session. This gave me the chance to captured some great
HDR (
High
Dynamic
Range) images specifically formatted for a new cover ("splash page") for my website. I love the results!

Tiffany
. . . it has been nearly 2 years since we have spent time together in the salon. Getting down to the OC from San Francisco has been a challenge for her ... as we all know life often gets in the way. I was so excited to see her name on my schedule!
She is currently in a very transitional period in her life, both personally and professionally, and decided to keep her hair on the longer side for the present to keep her options quite open. I am still her only hairdresser ... and she looks forward to having me create styles for her. It will be interesting to see where we go together.
Tiffany can be very adventurous given the right set of circumstances!
