Urgent: Help keep a deputy killer behind bars
In 1973, Henry Wong joined the Los Angeles County Marshal's Department spurred by a sense of civic duty. As detailed in an LAPPL blog, convicted murderer Kien Vinh Ly CDCR# E57469, who killed Los Angeles County Marshal Henry Wong on September 2, 1988, is up for parole, and we need your help to keep this killer behind bars. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Board of Parole is considering advancing his parole hearing to an earlier date.

The Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs along with the Los Angeles Police Protective League is strongly opposed to the release of Steven Vinh Ly, who murdered Los Angeles County Deputy Marshal Henry Wong.  Deputy Wong was killed working off-duty at an Alhambra restaurant after he ejected Ly for creating a disturbance and threatening patrons. As the restaurant was closing Ly returned and shot Wong in the head. Deputy Wong was the first deputy county marshal to be shot to death on or off-duty in the history of the Los Angeles County Marshal's Department.

Please email BPH.CorrespondenceUnit@cdcr.ca.gov and tell the Board of Parole Hearings to keep Kien Vinh Ly CDCR# E57469 behind bars. You must act by Sunday, February 7, 2016.

Kien Vinh Ly is a vicious murderer who has not yet paid his debt to society for killing Deputy Wong.  He should be forced to serve the maximum term of his sentence.  On behalf all peace officers who every day put themselves in harms' way to make our communities a safer place, I implore you to do your part and help block the release of this murderer.  Please do your part and help block the release of this murderer. Killing or attempted killing of a law enforcement officer on or off-duty is the ultimate violation of public safety.

The law enforcement community along with Deputy Wong's surviving widow and family strongly oppose the release of Kien Vinh Ly. We implore the Board of Parole Hearings to keep this brutal killer behind bars for his heinous act of violence.
