The Following is an Advisory from Penn Public Safety

Public Safety has been notified of the following:

The University of Pennsylvania Division of Facilities and Real Estate Services will conduct steam line venting as part of the Module 7 Utility Plant Upgrade at University Avenue and River Fields Drive.    This venting is necessary to clean out new steam piping prior to energizing newly installed steam turbines.

TESTING WILL CONTINUE FOR AN ADDITIONAL NIGHT:
Tonight, Thursday, February 4th, between 7pm and 11pm.

Venting will consist of a series of approximately five steam releases into the air from the new steam piping, which will create a high white columnar-like cloud of vaporized water which may look like smoke as it condenses into the cool air

There will be corresponding loud sounds similar to a jet engine.  Each duration of venting will be approximately 30 seconds to two minutes.

Venting will occur at Module 7, but it will be visible and able to be heard from adjacent properties.

If you have an emergency concern related to this event please call the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Public Safety at 215-573-3333.
