The Zika Virus and PASB Actions
As concern grows over an international outbreak of the  Zika  virus, PASB has taken the following prevention actions:
  • Each classroom is sprayed at the end of each day and the products being used use water as solvent (Aqua Protection).
  • The entire school is checked for accumulated water spots daily, and each is cleaned.
  • Insect control sprays (Insecticide that use water as solvent) have been distributed to all teachers for spot control application.
  • Effective immediately, we have contracted a fulmigation company called Bio Control, licensed by the "Conselho Regional de Biologia", and the product is registered at the "Ministério da Saúde/ANVISA" number 3.0119.0014. To avoid the inhalation of the product by staff and children, the fumigation will be done after school.
  • Dr. Luciane Santos from FIOCRUZ (Fundação Osvaldo Cruz) was contacted to offer information sessions to parents and staff. As soon as we have the confirmation of date and time, we will send more details.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

The PTA is getting into the spirit of international festival and will be hosting a barraca highlighting the international nature of our school, the pupils and teachers that come from outside Brazil. If you are an international parent, we would love your assistance as we are keen to focus on all the different nations that make up PASB and celebrate this with food, costumes and art. Please email and introduce yourself at [email protected].

ENEM

The grades for last ENEM (High School National Exam) have been published and we are all anxious to know the results of the seniors who took the test. However, this year, not all grades were made available. INEP (Anísio Teixeira National Institute of Studies and Research) had informed that candidates who are just practicing would only have access to their grades on March 8th. Students under 18 old who did not finish High School in 2015 are considered practicing candidates. For this reason, most of our students did not have access to the grades, since they will only graduate in June/2016. Only two of our students actually had their results because they are 18 and they chose to use the exam as their High School Certificate.

Therefore, we will have to wait to have all the grades and be able to analyze our students performance on this national examination. We know, however, that our school is not going to be included in the National Ranking of best school based on ENEM results simply because of our calendar.

The Brazilian Program Coordinatior, Ms. Bianca Begrow, is available to answer any doubts that might arise regarding this topic.
Secondary School News
  • High Honors and Highest Honors for Quarter 2: The assembly for High and Highest Honors was postponed until Friday, February 19th during Global Leadership. We look forward to recognizing those who qualify then.
