AWE Early Literacy Stations Now Available at All Library Locations

Our libraries are now even more "awesome" with the addition of AWE Early Literacy Stations.

The Early Literacy Station (ELS) offers children a safe, standalone computer loaded with over 70 educational software programs for ages 2 to 8. The software is age-appropriate, engaging, and academically relevant for children. It is designed to support school readiness and early education while making learning exciting. AWE's Early Literacy Station is found in over 40% of the public libraries across the United States as well as in many communities in Canada and abroad.

The early learning applications on the Early Literacy Stations span every curriculum area: reading, language arts, math, science, STEM, social studies, writing, graphic arts, typing, music, and more. The ELS has an imaginative interface that encourages exploration by readers and pre-readers alike. Some of the fun educational applications include Diego's Safari Rescue, Getting Ready for Kindergarten, Krazy ArtRoom, and Millie's Math House.

The Bay County Public Library and the Corinne Costin Gibson Memorial Public Library in Port St. Joe also offer a bilingual station, with over 30 programs in Spanish and English.

The library in Port St. Joe also has an AfterSchool Edge station, which is geared to children up to age 12; this station was funded in part by a donation from the Lion's Club.

AWE Early Literacy Stations are available at our Bay and Liberty County locations thanks to be generous donation from the Bay County Public Library Foundation.

We invite all children to visit any branch of the Northwest Regional Library System to play and learn as you explore the many activities available on the new computers!
