American Tree Inc. Newsletter

Greetings from American Tree

After two snowstorms one week apart, we are enjoying the warmer spring weather and are so excited for the season ahead! I have been hearing the red-winged blackbirds at my house which always makes me think of warm summer days. Our Gift and Garden Shop is starting to look like spring and we are now ready to move outside to begin setting up our nursery.
Outdoor To-Do's
pink-blossoms-tree.jpg  - Now is the time to be applying Dormant Oil to your Fruit Trees.  Remember to apply before the buds open but when temperatures will stay above freezing for at least 24 hours after application.
 - Think ahead to the vegetables you want to grow in your garden.  Some types can be started by seed now and then transplanted into the garden in a few weeks.
 - You can cut back any perennials or grasses that were left through the winter.  Wait  a bit  longer on your roses since we are sure to have at least one more cold snap.  You don't want to have to cut them back a second time if tender growth gets hit with a frost.
  - Fill in the low spots or add a fresh layer to your gravel driveway.  We have 21aa Crushed Limestone as well as Crushed Concrete and can help you figure how much you need to complete your job.
-Walk your yard and look for any animal damage that may have occurred.  You can still apply repellents to discourage further damage.

Happenings
  - We have been very busy getting our Garden and Gift shop ready for spring.  We have an exciting new collection of unique Garden Art and very cool Solar Stakes and lights.
-Our Plant Pharmacy is set with all of the fertilizers and treatments you need to maintain your beautiful yard.  Did you know we carry a full line of natural fertilizers and pest controls?
-Encourage pollinators with our new Mason Bee Shelters.
honeybee.jpg Mason Bees are the "friendly" bees that are very non-aggressive and can be great fun to watch.
-We have just received our Fruit Trees and are expecting more shipments of nursery stock daily.  In addition to the nursery stock we bring in, we are digging trees grown right here at American Tree and welcome you to tag your hand picked tree from our field. Although it may seem early, as soon as you can dig your soil, you can begin planting.
-Join us for a Fairy Garden Seminar Saturday, April 2nd at 10am.

Special News

Easter Bunny We will have the Easter Bunny here with candy-filled eggs to pass out Saturday March 26th from 11am-2pm so please stop by and bring your camera!  Due to the fact that our Easter Egg hunt has grown beyond our ability to do it justice,  we encourage you to participate in either the Lions Egg Hunt in Almont or the Egg Drop at the Imlay City Fairgrounds.

We are so excited for this spring and are as anxious as you to get out in the yard.  American Tree is  now open Monday through Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday
11am-4pm and will be increasing hours as the season progresses. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,
