LAMOTH's Righteous Conversations Project Recognized in Slingshot Top 50

LAMOTH's Righteous Conversations Project selected for 2016 Slingshot Guide
The Righteous Conversations Project at LAMOTH is proud to be named one of North America's top 50 innovative Jewish organizations in the 11th annual Slingshot Guide, a go-to resource for inspiring and innovative opportunities and projects.

Through the Righteous Conversations Project, students engage in dialogue with Holocaust Survivors, and steward Holocaust remembrance through film, multi-media, music, and the arts.

Selected from among hundreds of finalists reviewed by 93 professionals with expertise in grant-making and Jewish communal life, the Righteous Conversations Project is the only one of the 50 selected organizations focused on Holocaust commemoration and education work, and one of 16 organizations with women Executive Directors and Board Chairs. The Guide calls Righteous Conversations' work "essential to the future generations of Jews and all people."

The Slingshot Guide, published annually, is available in hard copy and as a free download at www.slingshotfund.org.

On April 17 at LAMOTH we will be hosting a community awareness and learning event about the scrolls and their history.

SURVIVOR SPEAKER SERIES
Dave Lux
Sunday, March 13, at 2:00 pm

Survivor Dave Lux, photo by Paul Ryan
Dave Lux was barely six years old when Nazi Germany  invaded his small Czechoslovakian village. Shortly before the outbreak of war, British humanitarian Sir Nicholas Winton organized  the rescue of hundreds of Jewish children from Czechoslovakia  and arranged for their entrance  into England. Dave's parents sent him and his brother on this Kindertransport to England where they lived for the remainder of the war. The two brothers made aliyah to Israel in 1949, and Dave eventually  settled in Los Angeles.

You can see artifacts reflecting Dave's experiences in our weekly Survivor Speaker micro-exhibit, located near the front desk.

A docent-led tour of the Museum will immediately follow the talk.
We are grateful to the Max H. Gluck Foundation for its generous support of Share Our Stories.
