Boys & Girls Club of Benton County Selected to Participate in National Fitness Competition

Nestle is sponsoring a bi-annual National Fitness Competition through Boys & Girls Club of America to inspire kids to achieve tangible short-term fitness goals. This partnership not only builds on long-time support of Boys & Girls Clubs, but represents our commitment to nutrition education and physical activity at the national and community levels. The Club will receive a $10,000 grant to ensure that members engage in at least 60 minutes physical activity five days or more by increasing the percentage of members engaged in physical activity.

For information on how your company can partner with Boys & Girls Club of Benton County to change lives in our NWA community, contact Shauna Collins at [email protected] or 479-273-7187 ext. 13.

SMART Kids is a character building and resistance training program for kids ages six through nine and is part of the nationally acclaimed prevention program SMART Moves, designed to hone their decision-making and critical-thinking skills, as well as learn how to avoid and/or resist alcohol, tobacco, other drugs.  To wrap up our Smart Kids program fire fighters were invited to come teach the kids about fire safety! Kids and staff had the opportunity to enjoy a ride on the fire truck!

The McKinney Unit Torch Club has taken on the challenge of grooming and tending the new raised-bed gardens.  The gardens were made possible by a generous donation from Nestle.  The fresh vegetables will be used in the Cooking Matters nutrition education course and for the NutriBullet University program beginning later in the year.  Parents may also take home fresh vegetables to prepare at home.
Board Member Ted Fox and Director of Character and Leadership, Ashley Skaggs treated the Keystone Club to some heat relief on Beaver Lake this past weekend.  Youth tried their hands (and feet)  in a day of wakeboarding. Some youth were more skilled than others, but all had a fantastic time.

The 5th through 12th grade youth at the Bella Vista Unit were learning a new game and practicing new skills.  Bill Allan, a longtime friend of the Club from Bella Vista's Pickle-Ball Club, taught this group how to play pickle-ball.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the new sport!

Kraft Volunteers Make Impact at Rogers Club

A team of Kraft volunteers went to the Rogers Club on May 14th to help spruce-up the outside of the building and playground area.  After finishing their work they had an opportunity to participate in tournament play and games with the Rogers kids.  The kids loved it! Thank you Kraft!
