Drama Club Performs Original Play
Nellie Nye makes a devil's bargain to take down rival investigative journalist Nick Newlin, but she wasn't counting on his having help from beyond the grave!
NQuiry, an original play by Julie Riggs, starred sixth graders

Nico Montez sharing the male lead and fifth graders
Cali Byrd and
Katie Rich sharing the female lead. Performed on March 8 by the fifth and sixth grade drama club, the play featured sixth grader

Taylor Gardsbane as the editor and the loyal secretary, and fifth grader
Megan Blomquist as the ghost. An ensemble cast of newsboys, Fates, fakes, and funny folk included sixth graders

President's Volunteer Service Award-Applications Due April 1!
Students in any grade, kindergarten through high school, who plan to apply for the President's Volunteer Service Award should turn in their records of service to Ms. Ekstrom by Friday, April 1. All recipients will be recognized at the Award Assemblies in May.
Senior Class Collects Books for Reading Partners

The senior class is collecting children's books for Reading Partners, a community organization that provides reading resources and tutoring to children who are reading behind grade level. Donation boxes are located throughout the building. The grade with the most donations wins a pizza party.
Cascarones - Egg-Cellent Spring Fun for a Good Cause!
The Pan American Student Forum (PASF) is selling
cascarones
to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Research Institute (CFRI) in memory of Lakehill alumna Haley Wester.
Cascarones
, dyed eggs filled with confetti and a personalized message for the recipient, can be ordered for $1 each, $5 for a half dozen, or $10 for a dozen. Orders must be placed by March 14 and will be delivered on March 18.
Upcoming Service Opportunities
March 12 - Shoreline Spruce-Up at White Rock Lake, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
All Lakehill students, families, and friends are invited to help Lakehill maintain its adopted shoreline at White Rock Lake. All equipment is provided and breakfast will be available. This is our last all-school clean-up for the year. Don't miss it!
April 2 - All Upper School students are invited to join WOO for a service project at the North Texas Food Bank. Bus transportation is provided. Students will depart Lakehill at 12:15 p.m. and will return by 4:00 p.m. Contact Student Council Vice-President Zain Iman, Ms. Thorne, or Ms. Ekstrom for more information.

Awesome Auction
Everyone had a totally awesome time going Back to the '80s on March 5. The Auction Committee thanks all of the sponsors, those who donated items and time, and everyone who attended the Auction for their support. The Auction would not have been a success without you!
A few housekeeping items:
- Credit cards of winning bidders will be charged beginning at Friday, March 11, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. If you need to change your credit card, please contact Hilaree Casada by noon on March 11.
- Items and gift certificates that were not picked up by winners at check-out will be available at the front desk beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 11.

National Junior Honor Society Highlights Lakehill's Soon-to-be Graduates
In an effort to reveal the hidden talents, personalities, and accomplishments of Lakehill's most experienced students, the National Junior Honor Society presents:
NJHS Spotlight on Seniors
This week's senior: Dante Jiang
Dante Jiang has attended Lakehill since tenth grade. His favorite class is British literature with Mr. Hagood
. After high school, Dante hopes to attend Boston University to major in International Business.
Throughout his years at Lakehill, Dante has been active in soccer, tennis, and track. He played on Lakehill's Varsity Soccer team and is a member of the Varsity Track team. He served as President of the International Student Organization during his junior year. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and watching movies.
Dante's first day at Lakehill when he was a sophomore is his strongest memory. After attending school in Alabama his freshman year, he remembers feeling nervous and excited about the opportunity at Lakehill. "I was just hoping for a good start," Dante said. "Looking back, I think everything turned out really well."
Dante's mom is his biggest influence. He will really miss Lakehill's small class size and all of the caring teachers who have pushed him to do his best.
Dante's friends describe him as outspoken and well-dressed. His advice to younger Warriors: "Listen to your teachers; follow instructions; and don't be afraid to ask questions."

T
he Lakehill Varsity Baseball team took on Newman Academy on March 5 in a double header at home. The Warriors won the first game 13-3. Jonathan Kelley pitched four solid innings. Reed Henry went six for six on the day with two doubles. Griffin Burt showed off his skill with an exciting sliding catch.
The Warriors then claimed a 19-2 win in the second game.
Charlie Pippen and Henry pitched.
Christian Druebert provided three solid base hits. The Warriors showed great overall hitting.
The Lady Warriors lost 9-2 to First Baptist on March 3.
Sofia de la Cruz
pitched a complete game. Freshman
Macy Ellis had two RBIs.
The Lady Warriors suffered a 10-2 loss to Rockwall Heritage on March 4. Ava Ecklin went one for three with one RBI. Ellis went one for two. De la Cruz pitched a complete game.
With 20 players on the team, the Lady Warriors are sporting their largest team in history. "We are a young team with a lot of potential," said Head Coach Lloyd Gamboa.
The Middle School Baseball team defeated Dallas Lutheran on March 4.

was the starting pitcher and kept Lakehill in the game through the bottom half of the final inning.

on second, a wild pitch scored Hunt to end the game and push the team to a record of 2-0 on the season.
The Middle School Softball team played at Canterbury on March 3. After scoring three runs in the top of the first inning, the Lady Warriors were unable to come up with any more the rest of the game.
The Canterbury pitcher struck out several Lakehill batters in route to a 15-3 win. The team will return to action after spring break.
The Lakehill Varsity Track team participated in its first meet on March 4 at the Prince of Peace Warm-Up Meet. In the field events,

ompeted in the long jump.

ran the 800 meter, while

ran the 100 meter. Palmer also competed in the 200 meter. The team competes again on Saturday, March 12 in the Volunteer Relays.

Lakehill rowers with Dallas United Crew and White Rock Rowing began their spring sprint season at the Heart of Texas Regatta on March 5-6 in Austin.
The highly-competitive regatta drew rowers from around the United States and Mexico, and included Dallas schools Ursuline, Hockaday, St. Mark's, and ESD.
Lakehill rowers had outstanding races, and brought home some hardware for their efforts.

The
Lakehill Varsity Tennis team lost a close match, 3-2 against Cambridge on March 4. Tennis ace Dunny Bock had an amazing start, winning his match 8-4. Bock scored another victory on March 1
against Rockwall Heritage.
Coach Polo Cruz says he is very proud of his boy's doubles team of Luke Jerome and Arthur Hu. He believes that the team has the opportunity to learn and improve throughout the season. "We have only lost two games out of the seven we have played," said Cruz. This demonstrates the hard work and talent of the Varsity Tennis team, ably represented by Bock, Alice Feng, Heather Hines, Gary Hou, Hu, Jerome, Sophia Liu, and Will Skipworth.
