Pledge Leaders

Caleb Barber, a first-grader, and Josh Barber, a fourth-grader from Lamar Elementary, were the pledge leaders for the month of February.

 
 
NBHS Female Student of the Month

Iris Montero was recognized as the NBHS Female Student of the month.

National Merit Program Finalist

Consent Agenda

All items on the Consent Agenda are considered to be routine by the Board of Trustees and will be enacted with one motion. There will be no separate discussion of the items unless a Board member so requests, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered as an item on the Regular Agenda. The following items were approved:

2016-2017 NBISD School Calendar with 10 additional minutes added to all the elementary campuses, both middle schools and the Ninth Grade Center school day and a quarterly grading cycle for all NBISD students

Exception to Board Policy EIC (LOCAL) for the NBHS 2016 graduating class that will allow the district to recognize co-valedictorians, a salutatorian and the Top 11 students at the graduation ceremony.

Addition of two (2) Career Technology Education (CTE) counselor positions at the secondary level for 2016-2017. Funding for these positions will come from CTE designated funds and be approximately $120,000.

Update of Board Policy GB (LOCAL) Public Information Program - Silver Unicorn Award - LDU 2016.01 with changes to the types of public recognition that will be given to honorees and extends the years of service for board members from three years to six years and two (2) terms. The number of honorees will also be reduced to only three per year rather than up to six per year.

Policy CW (LOCAL) Naming Facilities was enacted to allow nominations to be accepted for the two (2) new elementary campuses being built under the 2015 Bond Program. Nominations will be accepted for a minimum of six months.
