A Conversation with the Chamberlins
Members of the Education and Collections Committee have been hard at work planning interesting educational events for the public. The first such event "A Brief History of a Quaker Family in Waterford: A Conversation with the Chamberlins" will feature David, John, Robert and Taylor Chamberlin as they describe their experiences and those of their family. They will discuss both the early history of their family in Waterford as well as more recent history.
This program will be held at the Old School on Saturday, March 12 at 3:30 pm.

Waterford Furniture and Life in Waterford
In another upcoming event, Fred Johnson will give a talk about Waterford furniture. This event is hosted by Loudoun Mutual Insurance, and is scheduled on April 10
th
.
On May 21

, Jon Vrana will return to Waterford to present two one-man plays about life in Waterford at the end of the Civil War. Vrana had planned to present these plays at the 2015 Fair. This event will be held at the John Wesley Community Church. Stay tuned for more information about these two upcoming events.

Second Street School
With warmer weather approaching, classes will soon be underway again at the Second Street School Living History Program. This spring the one-room schoolhouse will see 34 classes of area 4
th
graders. Many thanks to our dedicated volunteers who portray Miss Nickens!

Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre - Dead Tuesday

Join StageCoach Theatre Company and the Waterford Foundation for a fun-filled entertainment experience as the Company presents an original murder mystery, Dead Tuesday.
Strange doings are afoot when masked guests assemble for a spectacular Mardi Gras ball at the Boudreaux Manor in New Orleans' French Quarter. Hosts Bob and Bunny Boudreaux have big plans for the evening, and the visitors are just dying to make an impression. But they may get more than they bargained for. The festivities include a voodoo priestess, a bewitched frog and a homicide that threatens to turn Fat Tuesday into ...Dead Tuesday.

Search for new Fair Director
Fair Director Lisa Thompson has accepted the position of Executive Director at Annapolis Partnership. I'm sure you all join me in wishing her well in her new position. Thanks for all your hard work and innovation over the past year, Lisa!
We are in the process of interviewing the top three candidates of the more than thirty who applied for the position, and are hopeful of having a new Fair Director in place by mid-March.

Annual Sweetheart Ball a Success!
The Waterford Foundation celebrated Valentine's Eve and 73 years of preserving Historic Waterford with a glamorous Sweetheart Ball at the Belmont Country Club.
Over a hundred festively dressed guests enjoyed cocktails and champagne while bidding on a variety of silent auction items that ranged from vintage toys to a luncheon for 8 in an historic Waterford garden.
A sumptuous dinner was served in the ballroom followed by a video presentation by past Foundation president Jim Behan highlighting the history of preservation in the Waterford National Historic Landmark. Jim and Foundation Executive Director Tom Kuehhas then conducted a lively auction of highly prized items such as a flight in a private plane to Kitty Hawk, NC, and a watercolor of a Waterford scene by noted artist Cathy Hillis.
The evening peaked as the dance floor filled with happy couples swinging to the big band sounds of the 17-piece Martinsburg Jazz Orchestra, inspired by Adam King and Lauren Smith from Dance King Studios in Leesburg who showcased dances from the 1930s and '40s.
Event organizers, Jackie and Jim Gosses (co-chairs), and Connie Moore and Jim Behan (co-chairs) were very pleased with the crowd and the occasion, and wish to thank Honorary Chairs Gail and Geary Higgins, and Loudoun Mutual Insurance Company (Sweetheart Ball sponsor) for their generous support of the Foundation. The Foundation is grateful to all the Sweethearts -- donors and dancers -- who made this fantastic event possible.
