Love your neighbor as yourself
SERVANT to SERVANT                        10-30-15

In an effort to make the English District a more useful tool in the success of your own congregation, I would like to kindly ask for your help in the completion of a Church Leadership Form. My hope is to more efficiently reach out to you in a timely manner and to work with you more closely as brothers and sisters in Christ.

The form is very simple to complete. All I ask for is the contact information for the leaders of your congregation, including those individuals who serve on your church council.

REFORMATION SERVICE

PRAYER REQUEST
Please pray for Rev. Steven Hicks and The English Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in St. Albans, NY.

Early Tuesday morning, October 27, Pastor Hick's neighbor's garage exploded. The garage was right next to the parsonage driveway. The explosion shook the parsonage and woke up Pastor Hicks and his dog. They had to escape through the back door as embers and burning wood were dropping on them. His wife was away at the time. It took emergency crews two hours to put out the fire.

All of the windows, the garage door, front door and side door of the parsonage were destroyed. Pastor and Mrs. Hicks also lost their newly installed fence, a 1966 Ford Thunderbird and the parsonage sustained about $15,000 worth of damage.

The Hicks feel blessed that no one was hurt. Pastor Hicks says, "We are still fighting the good fight."

NEWS FROM THE KASTERS
Suzanne and I are dedicated to serving the Lord and His Church wherever that might lead us. After twenty-four years of American parishes, we signed up to work with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana to offer training and pastoral care in Tamale, northern Ghana. What we expected has always been challenged by what is. We were and are in an always learning mode, adjusting to life and, more importantly, to mission. But as you who have followed us know, it took a hard turn from the normal to the abnormal when a cough and a leg cramp turned into a deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms.

SUGGEST A NAME

Bishop Hardy would like to rename the Servant to Servant publication. He welcomes your suggestions. If you have a name you would like him to consider, please email it to Kathy Stanis at  [email protected].
