New Graduation Requirement
(Class of 2017 and beyond)

In accordance with the most recent State budget, WI Act 55, students in the class of 2017 and beyond will be required to complete a civics test. The test will be the U.S. Citizenship and Immigrations Services'  Civics Questions for the Naturalization Test. The test will utilize all 100 questions and require students  to correctly answer 60 questions.

Wilmot Union High School is planning to administer the civics test during the second semester of this  school year for the class of 2017 and 2018. Students and parents will be notified when the dates have  been selected. The WUHS formatted test will be multiple choice. Students are able to retake the test, if  needed. Moving forward this will be a part of the Civics course that students typically complete during  the 9th grade year. The class of 2019 will complete the test in their Civics course. We have spoken with
all of the students in the 10th and 11th grade English courses to make them aware of this change in the  graduation requirements. This will not impact the class of 2016.

The following link provides resources from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigrations Services, including a copy of the test, answers, and flash cards: U.S. Citizenship & Immigrations Services

Using Kahoot in  Classrooms
Have you heard of Kahoot?   Kahoot is a learning tool that allows teachers to create their own quizzes, discussions or surveys.  You can even upload pictures and videos to go with each quiz.
Some of our teachers here at Wilmot have started using Kahoot and are already seeing improvements in test scores!   With Kahoot, teachers and students are able to see how many students get each answer right or wrong and which answers are being chosen.  This allows teachers to see which students are struggling and which questions the class as a whole had trouble with.   Kahoot has been a wonderful tool for helping students review summative assessments and for teachers to reflect on their teaching! Ask your student if they are using Kahoot in class?
