Director's Message

I recently returned from Encore.org's annual meeting in San Francisco. More than 500 global Encore.org leaders had come to the event to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas for leveraging the talents of people like   you  - experienced adults in midlife and beyond - who want to improve their communities.

I walked away with the sense that our country is finally waking up to the potential of encore talent and to addressing barriers that prevent us from fully engaging them in our communities. For example:
  • Five years ago, Encore.org started a national network with just five member organizations. Today there are 63 members, including ReServe. Together, the network has created a new toolkit to help non-profits and businesses connect  to 55+ talent.
  • AARP has unveiled a new video to bring age discrimination in the workforce out in the open - click here.
  • Encore's Purpose Priz awards those who defy aging stereotypes with trailblazing work, demonstrating how the second half of life can be a time for creativity and innovation.
There was another galvanizing event takeaway: ReServe is a showcase for encore talent

As interest in national expansion grows, we're building on it by bringing the transformative power of ReServists to California. As the saying goes, what California does, so will the rest of the nation!
