To secure funding for projects through the federal TIGER or FASTLANE grant programs, it is critical to demonstrate not only a great project in terms of benefit-cost ratio, but also why the project has economic consequences. Successful TIGER grants for highway or bridge projects have tended to go to applicants who can show community or regional benefits. The new FASTLANE grant program seeks applications that can demonstrate national freight significance and visible economic outcomes.   Read More

UNITED STATES CENTER FOR UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS - ECONOMIC IMPACTS
EDR Group was retained by Gryphon Sensors, LLC to provide an analysis of the economic impacts of the proposed United States Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS Center) in support of a $500 million grant application submitted by a Gryphon and a consortium of Central New York state stakeholders under the Governor's Upstate Revitalization Initiative.  Read More

ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY IMPACTS OF THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS (BOSTON) 
For the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (MFA), in partnership with Mt. Auburn Associates, EDR Group developed a profile of the economic contribution of the MFA for both Boston and the state of Massachusetts. EDR Group developed the economic analysis and reported findings in a technical report to the MFA. EDR Group used calibrated a two-region IMPLAN model for Suffolk County (Boston) and the rest of Massachusetts to trace the overlapping economic role of the Museum in each of the two regions.  Read More

FASTLANE GRANTS FOR FREIGHT PROJECTS
The USDOT's new FASTLANE program provides
$800 million to fund grants for major freight, highway and intermodal projects. The program has a fast turnaround; the deadline for applications is April 14, 2016. That's truly "FAST"! While the application process has some similarities to the TIGER program, it has added requirements to show the national or regional significance of the project and how it will lead to economic outcomes. Fortunately, EDR Group has developed new data and analysis methods to address these specific issues.  Read More
